Girls Soccer:

If anyone may have thought the Marshall Fundamental girls soccer program was going to have a letdown after winning the CIF-SS Division 5 title on Saturday night, those concerns were put to bed early on Tuesday.

The Eagles scored five goals in each half and cruised to a 10-0 victory over Animo De La Hoya in Tuesday’s first round of the CIF State Division 4 playoffs.

Brianna Marquez had a team-high three goals, which gave Marshall a 4-0, first-half lead.

Alexie Gallo’s goal, which was assisted by Sara Hernandez, got the girls from Pasadena on the board.

Gallo would also tally a pair of assists in the blowout.

Cora Adomou scored twice, including the last goal of the first half and the third in the second half.

Skylar Atacador found the back of the net twice, and they were Marshall’s first two scores in the second half.

Grace Mabee and Julia Castro had one goal apiece.

Marshall has now won 18 consecutive games.

Up next: The Eagles will face Hemet for the second time in five days.

Last Saturday, Marshall defeated the Bulldogs, 4-3, in the D-5 title game.

Hemet edged Sierra Canyon, 1-0, in their first-round state game on Tuesday.
