Football:

Last year, Alta Loma was able to secure its first league championship this century.

Fast forward to 2026, and the Lions are now just two wins away from back-to-back Valle Vista League titles.

After Thursday’s 51-0 victory at Diamond Ranch, ALHS will travel to Chino in week nine and host first-place Claremont to close out the regular season.

Alta Loma has outscored its opponents by a combined margin of 121-7.

The Lions defense has surrendered 48 points less than the next closest VVL program (Claremont).

But back to Thursday.

Owen Fiorenza created headaches for the Panthers offense.

The ALHS junior had six tackles and he scored twice.

Fiorenza blocked a punt, and he also recovered a punt blocked by Colin Boen in the end zone.

He also picked a pass and returned it 20 yards for a pick-six.

The ALHS offense compiled 198 yards of total offense.

Maximus Fierro went 4-of-14 for 60 yards.

That included a pair of TD passes and one pick.

Izaih Brown led the Lions ground game with 86 yards on nine carries and one score.

Colin Boen carried the ball four times for 38 yards, including one TD.

Owen Lyons (1-for-24) and Santiago Vasquez (3-for-36) combined for four receptions for 60 yards and one TD catch apiece.

ALHS had 19 different players that registered at least one tackle.

Gavin Medina’s 11 tackles, including three for-loss were five more than his next closest teammate.

Christian May finished with six tackles, four of which were for-loss.

Nathaniel Alverado and Colin Boen tallied five tackles apiece.

Semaj Stewart had four tackles and an interception.

Benjamin Dorsey totaled four tackles, and all four of Theo Pahlu’s tackles were for-loss.

Up next: The Lions travel to Chino to battle a Cowboys team that has dropped consecutive VVL games at Claremont (28-25) and San Dimas (28-14).
