Football:
After sitting out the first half of the regular season, people had to wonder what Los Osos transfer quarterback Isaiah Guerrero would add to an already loaded Bearcats team.
And the answer is “a lot.”
Through the first three games wearing a green jersey, Guerrero has thrown 11 touchdown passes and been picked just once.
Guerrero has completed approximately 78-percent of his passes, and he’s used his legs effectively to extend drives and even score.
On Friday, Guerrero and his boys at BHS dropped a 49-14 Sierra League beatdown on their visitors from Ayala.
Bonita is now 8-0 overall and 3-0 in league games.
They handed Ayala its 27th consecutive loss.
The Bulldogs haven’t won a football game since August 31st of 2024, when AHS edged Desert Pines, 30-26, in a week-one contest.
In 2026, Ayala has been outscored 285-55, and that includes a 142-17 disadvantage in Sierra League losses to Charter Oak, Glendora and Bonita.
But back to the Bearcats.
Guerrero threw five touchdown passes on Friday.
He hooked up with Matt Milazzo on TD strikes of 31 and 19 yards.
Omari Sullivan reeled in a 14-yard TD pass from Guerrero.
JJ Juarez (5 yards) and Dane Gosserand (6) also caught TD passes from the Bonita senior.
The heart and soul of BHS, Joseph Lara, made his presence felt on both sides of the ball.
And that included TD runs of 54 and 44 yards.
Up next: BHS visits Charter Oak next Friday to, for all intents and purposes, decide the Sierra League championship in a battle of unbeatens.
