Volleyball:

Marshall had what coach Fred Nash described as ‘the match of their life today, with the addition of it being senior night. We competed tooth and nail and beat San Marino for the first time in school history.’

And the Eagles were able to take it to the limit and finished off the Titans in five dramatic sets.

MHS won 25-20, 28-26, 8-25, 23-25 and 16-14.

Not only did Marshall knock off San Marino, they secured third place in the Boulder League to claim a CIF-SS playoff berth.

This is how Coach Nash described the action: “We took an early 2-0 lead against a very well-coached team and we knew that they were not going down easy, and that they were in the third and fourth set. We took the first two sets, 25-20 and 28-26. Being down through this set was a statement for our team and letting everyone know that they are not going down without a fight. San Marino ended up taking the third (25-8) and fourth (25-23). Before the fifth set started, I told the seniors that it’s time to leave your legacy and with the underclassmen, it is time to start theirs and. It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish. After that, San Marino had a lead of 10-5, but the Eagles still kept pushing the Titans to the brink. With San Marino leading 14-13, we ended up getting two crucial points and an ace from senior Ashley Domiguez and block touches by Noelle Taylor and Asha-Kohli-Lynch to force San Marino in making errors to end the match.”

Stat Leaders:
Noelle Taylor had 18 kills and three blocks.
Livsey Teems added 14 kills
Aida Movsisyan chipped in with 10 kills 19 digs and four aces.
Harlem Castro had 32 digs and four aces.
Ashley Dominguez finished with 32 assists and three aces.

Up next: Marshall will host South Pasadena in a nonleague match to close out the regular season.

Records: San Marino (25-9, 6-2); Marshall (18-8, 4-4)
