Tennis:
Though the scorecard showed a one-sided affair, the Lady Minutemen walked away pleased with how they competed against the defending Olympic League and CIF-SS Division 6 champions from Village Christian.
This was the best tennis they’ve played thus far this season, and though their tennis talent and experience were far exceeded by their opponents, they managed to engage in seven close/very close sets – all losses – in what turned out to be a 3 ½ hour match.
Maranatha’s lone three points were garnered once again by their singles squad, which has led the way for the team all season, with Hannah Su, Sarah Fong, and Grace Yang each contributing one point.
They each could have won at least one more set.
The competitive playing experience for the doubles lineup is next to nil, but they continue to learn and grow.
Each match played continues to build their tennis character and synergy with one another.
Up next: The Lady Minutemen (3-2 overall, 0-1 in league) next travel to Santa Fe High School (5-1) on Monday, in a non-league match that was postponed from earlier in the season due to heat.
