Volleyball:
San Dimas won its fourth consecutive match on Tuesday.
But it did not come easily.
The Saints outlasted Glendora by scores of 25-11, 25-17, 15-25, 21-25 and 17-15.
It was SDHS’ first win over GHS since 2017.
For two sets, the Saints looked completely unstoppable.
San Dimas set the tone early with crisp passing and an aggressive attack, blowing past the Tartans 25-11 in the opening frame before taking a commanding two-set lead with a 25-17 win in the second.
However, a shift in the Saints’ rotation gave Glendora the window it needed to claw back into the match.
Behind a masterclass performance in defense and floor coverage by libero Kaleia Zeits, the Tartans completely disrupted the San Dimas rhythm.
Zeits anchored a relentless back-row effort, keeping rallies alive and shifting all the momentum to Glendora’s side.
The Tartans seized the third set 25-15 and fought off a late San Dimas rally in the fourth to secure a 25-21 win, forcing a deciding fifth set.
The final frame turned into an absolute slugfest.
With neither side willing to yield, the teams traded blows late into extra points.
San Dimas ultimately found the clutch plays when it mattered most, closing out the match 17-15 to trigger a wild celebration on the court, and end their long dry spell against their local rivals.
Neriah Bobadilla put together a phenomenal double-double effort, pacing the Saints with 10 kills and a team-high 31 digs to hold down the backline.
Violet Robertson was a force in the center, stepping up big with a career-high 11 kills to go along with three blocks.
Emilia Chiapponne delivered timely offense, finishing with 11 kills.
Juliana Picazo added serious firepower with 10 kills.
Taylor Smith provided all-around excellence, posting nine kills, 10 assists, and a pair of blocks.
Kalissa Disnet directed the offense seamlessly while providing crucial defense, ending the night with 15 assists and 19 digs.
Valentina Zurla led the GHS attack with 16 kills, 13 digs, three aces and two blocks.
Alexandra Oliver had 12 kills, three blocks and two digs.
Samantha Oliver chipped in with 11 kills, one block and three digs.
Kaleia Zeits had a big night with 49 digs.
Amelia Arzaga (17) and Brooklyn Salazar (13) combined for 30 assists.
Up next: GHS will travel to Rancho Cucamonga next Tuesday at 4:45.
SDHS visits Walnut on Thursday at 5:15.
