The Marshall volleyball program is on an incredible run under first-year coach Fred Nash.
In consecutive weekends, the Eagles secured a Montclair Classic and Sierra Vista Tournament titles.
Every member of the program deserves credit, and that includes senior setter, Ashley Dominguez.
Coach Nash described Ashley’s impact this way:
Said Fred Nash: Ashley has been a vital part of the success for the program with her being one of the three leaders that we have within the program. This past week, she has shown why she is the dynamic player that she is for Marshall.
Ashley showed her all-around athleticism on day one (Wednesday) of the Sierra Vista Tournament, she capped the day with 31 assists and five digs over the two matches.
Followed by Wednesday’s match, Ashley continued her production on Friday vs Riverside Prep for a preseason match that she finished with 31 assists and 14 digs.
Ashley and the Eagles had to have a quick reset at day two of the Sierra Vista Tournament, where she finished with 73 assists, 16 digs and 13 aces.
During the finals against Rowland, she finished the match with the game-wining ace to give Marshall a historic victory, as it was the program’s first back-to-back tournament gold division title wins.
Ashley Dominguez was named to the All-Tournament team.
Up next: The Lady Eagles (14-3) travel to Bloomington on Friday evening at 6:15.
