Football:
Pasadena City College took a five-point lead late into the third quarter of their 2026 season opener at Saddleback.
Unfortunately for the Lancers, the Bobcats closed the game on a 13-0 run to secure a 19-11 victory.
Jake Davidson completed 15-of-23 for 166 yards for Saddleback, including three TDs and no picks.
Francisco Martinez had game highs in catches (7), receiving yards (126) and TD receptions (2).
Martinez reeled in scoring strikes of 23 yards in the first quarter and a 6-yard TD with 44 seconds to play in the third quarter to give the Bobcats a 12-11 lead.
Xavier Buckles completed 20-of-45 for 204 yards in the loss.
Trailing 6-3 with 7:24 remaining in the third quarter, Buckles tossed a 12-yard TD pass to Tristen Fitzpatrick.
After completing the 2-point conversion, the Lancers led 11-6.
PCC got on the board on the final play of the first half, as he booted a 28-yard field goal.
Cam Mitchell (5-for-56), Jayden Spann (4-for-54) and Fitzpatrick (2-for-30) combined for 11 catches for 130 yards, including the Fitzpatrick TD.
The Lancers were unable to get anything going in their run game.
Dom Ezeonye led PCC with 23 yards on 11 carries.
Up next: PCC will host Santa Barbara next Saturday at 6.
