It’s not every week that an athlete of either gender reaches a plateau that no one in school history had done before them.
But that was the case for Etiwanda outside hitter, Lauren Furnald.
In Thursday’s 25-21, 16-25, 25-9 and 25-18 victory over Temecula Valley, Furnald became the first EHS athlete to secure 1,000 career kills.
The Westmont College commit tallied 21 kills, 10 digs and three aces in the win.
Two days prior, she finished with a team-high 13 kills, 13 digs, two aces and a pair of blocks in a four-set loss at Eleanor Roosevelt.
For the season, Furnald had 117 total kills, and that is 80 more than her next closest teammate, Rylee Welcome (37).
Up next: EHS (6-4) will host Claremont (1-2) on Tuesday at 4:45, and they travel to Chaparral (2-0) on Thursday at 5:30
