Football:
The Chris Williams era at Covina High School got off to an explosive start.
The Vikings jumped on their hosts from La Puente.
And they did so early and often.
CHS scored 18 points apiece in the first two quarters, and they cruised to a 54-0 victory.
Covina totaled 377 yards of total offense before taking their foot off the pedal.
Ethan Hayes completed all four of his pass attempts for 192 yards.
And that included a pair of TD passes.
Drew Goyne caught three passes for 149 yards and one TD.
Matt Chavez reeled in a 43-yard TD pass.
Isaac Rojas carried the ball six times for 100 yards.
Rojas finished with three rushing TDs.
Chris Cerna averaged 10 yards per carry (7-for-73) and one TD.
JJ Solano went 6-for-6 on his extra-point attempts.
Up next: The Colts host Maranatha on Thursday night at Covina District Field.
The Minutemen (0-1) fell, 31-21, to Dominguez in their season opener.
