Volleyball:
Bonita hosted Western Christian in Tuesday’s 2026-27 season opener.
And things looked promising early on.
The Bearcats secured the first two sets.
But BHS dropped two in a row to set up an all-of-nothing fifth and deciding game.
Bonita would hold on for a 25-14, 25-23, 20-25, 15-25 and 18-16 victory over WCHS.
Junior Aubrie Gonzalez tallied 40 assist, two aces and eight digs.
Another junior, Elle Howie, chipped in with 20 kills, a pair of blocks, four aces and five digs.
Up next: The Bearcats will host Chino Hills (2-1) tonight (Wednesday) at 5:15.
