Baseball:
Glendora just won its ninth consecutive CIF-SS playoff game on Tuesday.
The Tartans scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to secure a 3-2 victory at Saugus.
And in the process, GHS earned a spot in this weekend’s CIF-SS Division 4 title game.
Sebastian Lawrence continues his MVP-caliber play with a complete-game effort.
Lawrence surrendered two runs on four hits.
The one mistake was a two-run blast off the bat of Matt Long in the bottom of the third inning to give SHS a 2-0 lead.
Lawrence didn’t issue a walk and registered four strikeouts.
Fifty-one of his 80 pitches were strikes.
Joey Nuttall singled and scored.
Abraham Ramirez and Banning Sheff had one single apiece for Saugus.

Chase Kline got the loss after going 5 1/3 innings, and allowing three runs on five hits and a hit batter.
Kline walked one and fanned three GHS batters.
Riley Cooper led off the top of the sixth with a single, and he’d advance to second on a wild pitch.
John Seader singled to push Cooper to third.
Tanner Grable got the Tartans on the board with a sac fly to center.
Santiago Garza followed with a two-run shot to left field for what turned out to be the winning runs.
Seader finished 2-for-4.
Sebastian Lawrence singled and doubled in the win.
Up next: The Tartans will battle Laguna Beach on either Friday or Saturday at Cal State Fullerton or the LoanMart Field in Rancho Cucamonga.
The Breakers (20-11) edged Grand Terrance, 2-1, on Tuesday.
Quotable:
Glendora coach, Jerry Lewallen: “Seb gave us a great effort today. He was very efficient, tossing 80 pitches and he attacked the strike zone and had trust in his teammates. We just had to keep battling at the plate. The Saugus pitcher did a very good job early mixing pitches and hitting his location. I’m proud of Santi. His previous at-bat did not go well. He was able to move on. He got a fastball and barreled one up.”
