Baseball:
Most SGV area sports fans know Sebastian Lawrence as the quarterback at Glendora High School.
And he’s served in that role for the first two years of his high school career.
What many may not know is that Lawrence is also a clutch member of the Tartans baseball program.
During last year’s D-3 title run, he provided seven scoreless postseason innings in relief.
But he didn’t get a single at-bat.
Fast forward to his sophomore season, and Lawrence is contributing massively, both on the mound and with a bat in his hands.
In D-4 playoff wins over St. Anthony, Katella and Canyon, Lawrence is 6-for-9 with five runs, three doubles, two home runs and nine RBIs.
He also earned wins over St. Anthony and Katella.

For the season, Lawrence is batting .375, with 30 hits, 16 runs, 24 RBIs, 12 doubles and three home runs.
On the mound, he has a team-best record of 7-1 with a 3.62 ERA.
He’s issued 17 walks and registered 29 strikeouts in 38 2/3 IP.
His success has many Tartans fans/parents/teachers/administrators happy, because Sebastian is a quality young man who treats others with dignity and respect.
He’s all about ‘we,’ not individual glory.
Up next: Glendora will compete in Tuesday’s CIF-SS (D-4) semifinal round for the second consecutive year.
Originally, the Tartans were set to host Rio Mesa.
However, RMHS reported itself for violating the pitch-count rule, so GHS will make the 60-mile drive to battle Saugus (16-15) with a spot in the D-4 championship game at stake.
Glendora is 8-0 in CIF-Southern Section games dating back to last season.
Their lone postseason loss came in the CIF State playoffs to Eastlake (4-1).
