Etiwanda’s remarkable 2026 season came to an end on Thursday.
La Mirada handed the Eagles a 3-1 setback in the quarterfinal round of the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs.
The Matadores got single runs in the bottom of the first and second innings, and picked up an insurance run in the fourth.
Alison Ortega went the distance and allowed one run on three hits.
Ortega issued two walks and registered 11 strikeouts.
Sixty-nine of her 109 pitches were strikes.
Ortega got eight Etiwanda batters on strikes at least once.
Dailynn Battee singled and scored.
Amani McField drove in the Eagles lone run of the game with a sac fly in the top of the sixth inning.
It pulled EHS to within 3-1 on LMHS.
Mia Diaz singled in Thursday’s loss.
Mya Coleman went all six innings for EHS, and she surrendered three runs (two earned) on seven hits.

Sixty-three of her 103 pitches were strikes.
Reese Hilliard drove in all three runs for La Mirada.
Hilliard had an RBI ground out and an RBI double in the first and second innings, respectively.
In the fourth, Hilliard’s RBI single gave the Matadores a 3-0 lead.
Alanna Adams was hit by pitch, singled, tripled and scored a pair of runs.
Riley Hilliard walked and singled.
Bettie Mae Acevedo singled and scored.
Milani Cruz singled.
Up next: The Matadores will battle La Habra in Saturday’s D-1 semifinal.
The Highlanders (23-7) outlasted Orange Lutheran, 11-8, in their quarterfinal round slugfest on Tuesday.
