Softball:
It was going to take a great effort for anyone to beat a La Salle program that entered Monday’s second round of the CIF-SS Division 3 playoffs on a 17-game win streak.
And that elite effort came from a freshman pitcher from Dos Pueblos.
Emily Morici went the distance and surrendered just one run on two hits in the Chargers 5-1 victory at LSHS.
Morici issued one walk and registered 13 strikeouts.
Aria Davis broke up a no-hitter with a two-out solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Layla Loya’s one-out single in the seventh accounted for the rest of the Lancers offense.
Morici struck out nine of the 10 La Salle batters on Monday at least once.
Sixty-nine of her 94 pitches were strikes.
Peyton Herdina was saddled with the loss after allowing five runs on 11 hits over five innings.
Herdina walked one and struck out four DPHS batters.
Sixty-seven of her 101 pitches were strikes.
Anastasia Brunner went 3-for-4, including a solo home run to leadoff the game.
Brunner scored two of Dos Pueblos’ five runs.
Morici helped her own cause with a pair of doubles and an RBI single in the top of the seventh.
Kyanne Bechler went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.
Vereniki Maniadi was hit by pitch and doubled, while Zella Cassidy and Kacey Hurley had one single apiece.
Brooklyn Hedricks walked and scored.

A huge congrats to the Lady Lancers for a remarkable 2026 season.
As mentioned, they won 17 consecutive games, and that included a 12-0 run in Camino Real League play.
La Salle outscored their CRL competitors by a combined margin of 151-9.
