Baseball:
Citrus needs a win on Friday to extend an historic 2026 season.
The Owls fell Thursday, 7-6, at No. 2 Santa Ana in the first game of a best-of-three series.
The Dons trailed 6-2, but scored four times in the bottom of the seventh and got one in the ninth.
Michael Moses went two innings and he was charged with two runs on four hits.
Moses walked one and fanned one SAC batter.
Matthew Martinez surrendered four runs on one hit, two walks and three hit batters over four innings of work.
Gabe Buranasiri was saddled with the loss after allowing one run on one hit, a pair of walks and a hit batter in 2 1/3 innings.
Martinez and Buranasiri struck out one batter apiece.
Barrett Ronson hit a two-run shot in the seventh to pull the Dons to within 6-4 of the Owls.
Jack Mueller walked, singled, doubled and scored two runs.
Aiden Marquez went 2-for-3 with a pair of walks, one run and two RBIs.
Evan Reiter singled, drove in one run on a sac fly and the game winning run on a fielder’s choice.
Ken Tomitaka had an RBI ground out in the bottom of the first inning.
Carlos Morales walked and scored.
Josh Rodriguez started and went 5 2/3 innings, and he surrendered six runs on seven hits.
Rodriguez issued two walks and registered four strikeouts.
Matt Solorzano was credited with the win after going 3 1/3 scoreless innings and scattering three hits.
Solorzano didn’t allow a walk and struck out one.
Dominic Torrez went 2-for-3, including a two-run home run in the fifth inning.
Cole West followed Torrez with a solo home run.
Dustin Yela went 3-for-3 with a walk, run, RBI single and two-run triple.
Nick Velazquez walked, singled and scored.
Garrett Patterson tripled and scored.
Cam Casado and Derek Almeda had one single apiece.
Up next: The Owls attempt to save their season on Friday.
