Maranatha came into today’s first Round CIF-SS Division 6 playoffs knowing that they would be facing a well-conditioned Segerstrom team that would play with full intensity and effort; and that’s exactly how the Jaguars played.
The Minutemen were able to bring a focus and intensity of their own that allowed them to jump out to a 4-2 lead after the first round of play.
It was the second round that sealed the win for Maranatha, as each player stepped up their play to give the Minutemen a second round 6-0 sweep.
The Jaguars battled back in the third round, taking five of six sets, including two sets against MHS substitutes.
Up next: The Minutemen are now 11-4 on the season and head to Palos Verdes on Friday, where they face the Chadwick School Dolphins, who defeated Wildwood, 10-8, to advance to the second round of the D-6 playoffs.
