Donovan Johnson did his part and then some in Covina earning the No. 2 seed out of the Valle Vista League.
The Colts senior tossed a no-hitter in Tuesday’s 7-0 victory over visiting Wilson.
CHS finished 8-2 in Valle Vista League games, which was one-game back of first-place Charter Oak.
Johnson issued a pair of walks and registered 11 strikeouts.
He faced two over the minimum.
Sixty-six of his 97 pitches were strikes.
Isaac Flores and Iziah Espinoza both made diving plays at third base to preserve Johnson’s no-hitter.
Marcus Isidro got the loss after surrendering six runs on six hits and a pair of hit batters over three innings.
Isidro walked four and struck out one CHS batter.
Alexander Galaviz walked, singled, doubled in a run and scored.
Kevin Mitchell walked, singled in a run and scored.
Diego Lopez drew a pair of walks, including one with the bases loaded and scored.
Damien Morimoto singled in a run.
Ethan Echeverria doubled in a run and scored.
Aiden Ayala went 2-for-3 with an RBI single.
Lucas Thorpe walked, had an RBI ground out and scored.
