Rainn McMillan Goes 4-for-5 w/Double, HR & Four RBIs in Palomar’s 12-5 Victory Over Mt. SAC; Mounties Need Two Wins on Sunday

College Baseball:

Palomar jumped on their visitors from Mt. SAC early and they cruised to a 12-5 victory.

The Comets out-hit the Mounties, 16-8, including a 5-2 advantage in extra-base hits.

After MSAC and PC knocked off Mt. San Jacinto yesterday, it became a best-of-three series that will conclude on Sunday.

Hudson Castillo got roughed up for seven runs on six hits, a walk and a pair of hit batters in 1 1/3 innings.

Rainn McMillan went 4-for-5 with an RBI single, a two-run double and a solo home run.

Elijah Stephens walked, singled twice, doubled and scored three times.

Michael Rodda went 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs and an RBI double.

Adrian Macias doubled in a run and drew a bases loaded walk.

Jacob Loving went 2-for-4 with a walk, three runs and a pair of RBIs.

Preston Conklin singled three times, scored and drove in one.

Justin Tucker drew a bases loaded walk, had an RBI ground out and scored.

Ryan Herrod improved to 9-1 after going six innings and allowing five runs (two earned) on five hits.

Herrod issued one walk and registered five strikeouts.

Mt. SAC scored all five of their runs in the top of the fourth inning.

Andrew Alva hit a two-run homer to get the Mounties on the board.

Frankie Brazil walked and singled.

Nick Mejia walked, singled and scored.

Jackson Giacone singled, doubled and scored.

Ryan Castro singled and scored.

Tyler Primanto singled twice and drove in a run on a sac fly.

Luca Lombardi had an RBI ground out.

Chip Mertz reached base on an error, and he scored on Primanto’s sac fly.

Up next: The Mounties need to beat the Comets twice on Sunday to keep their season alive and to move on to next week’s Super Regionals.

The first pitch is set for Sunday morning at 11.
