College Baseball:
After Pasadena City College dropped their first game of the 3C2A playoffs, 7-5, to Cypress, the Lancers faced the series host from Citrus in the hopes of keeping their season alive.
Unfortunately for PCC, the Owls cruised to a 14-5 victory.
Citrus out-hit PCC, 22-6, including a 7-1 advantage in extra-base hits.
AJ Flores got the loss after surrendering six runs (five earned) on six hits and a pair of walks over 1 1/3 innings.
The Owls scored two runs or more off four of the five Lancers’ pitchers.
Derek Almeda went 5-for-6 with three runs, a solo home run, a two-run HR and an RBI single.
Dustin Yela singled, doubled and scored.
Dominic Torrez walked and scored.
Jordan Daniels singled twice, scored and drove in one.
Cam Casado went 4-for-5 with three runs and a two-run home run.
Nick Velazquez singled, hit a two-run home run and drove in another on a sac fly.
Jackson Gray singled, doubled, scored and drove in one run on a sac fly.
Garrett Patterson had an RBI double.
Cole West went 2-for-4 with a walk, RBI single and two runs.
Royce Mendoza singled and scored.
Sean York got the win after going 4 1/3 innings and allowing four runs (three earned) on two hits and a pair of hit batters.
York walked three and struck out four PCC batters.
Evan Ellis provided 2 2/3 scoreless innings and allowed a pair of hits.
Ellis issued two walks and registered two strikeouts.
Marcus Reese was charged with one unearned runs on two hits.
Reese walked two and fanned five.
Omar Cisneros walked, singled twice and scored a pair of runs.
Joaquin Salcedo drew a pair of walks, including one with the bases loaded.
Isaac Ton singled and scored.
Diego Gurfein walked and scored.
Luke Bauer and Logan Parker walked and had one single apiece.
Gabe Martinez doubled and Xiovany Ochoa scored.
Up next: The Owls battle Cypress on Saturday at 1.
The winner of Saturday’s game will need just one win on Sunday to advance to the Super Regional.
