Baseball:
Pasadena’s 10-9 Pacific League loss at rival Muir is going to sting for a few reasons.
First of all, the Mustangs scored four times in the bottom of the seventh to edge the Bulldogs.
Secondly, seven PHS errors cost the boys in red eight unearned runs.
Lastly, with one game remaining in league play, the Mustangs now have a one-game lead over Pasadena in the Pacific League standings for fourth place.
Muir’s rally meant the boys in blue extended their current win streak to 10 games.
Bruno Pierandozzi went 4 2/3 innings, and he was charged with five runs (one earned) on four hits.
Pierandozzi issued six walks and registered three strikeouts.
Reese Kim was stuck with the loss after allowing five runs (one earned) on five hits over two innings.
Kim didn’t walk a batter and struck out one.
In the bottom of the seventh, Luca Cano tripled in a run and Ezekiel Rodriguez’s RBI single tied the game at 9-9.
Two batters later, Eduardo Sosa reached base on an error by a PHS infielder that allowed the game winning run to score.
Cano finished 2-for-4 with a walk, run and two RBIs.
Kahlil Rishwain walked, singled and scored.
Rodriguez walked, had the single and two RBIs.
Sergio Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs and an RBI.
Sosa singled and scored.
Bryant Soriano singled and scored.
Lawton Gray walked and scored.
Brandon Figueroa and George Perez both went 2-for-3 with one run and an RBI.
Zack Avrach started and surrendered two runs on three hits and a pair of hit batters over two innings.
Avrach walked three and struck out four.
Justin Figueroa went 2 1/3 innings and he was charged with four runs on four hits and three walks.
Ezekiel Rodriguez provided 2 1/3 innings in relief, and allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits.
Rodriguez walked one and registered one strikeout.
Luca Cano got the final out in the top of the seventh.
Jayden Mendoza went 2-for-3 was hit by pitch and drove in three runs.
Bruno Pierandozzi singled, doubled and scored a pair of runs.
Reese Kim went 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs and a pair of RBIs.
Maximus Reynolds drew three walks and scored.
Harrison Gwaltney was hit by pitch, singled twice and scored a pair of runs.
Ryan Chen went 2-for-2 with a walk, run and one RBI.
Dylan Derosier walked, scored and had an RBI.
