Baseball:
Los Altos just ruined Alta Loma’s chance of securing an outright Hacienda League championship.
The Conquerors claimed a 7-1 victory at ALHS on Tuesday.
With one league game remaining, the Lions could still win a share of the Hacienda League title with a victory at LAHS on Thursday.
And because they won two of three with SHHS, they would be considered the No. 1 seed out of the Hacienda League.
Grant MacCharles got roughed up on Tuesday for seven runs (six earned) on six hits and three hit batters over 5 1/3 innings.
He walked three and fanned three Los Altos batters.
Rene Juarez (2/3) and Vincent Cantu (1) combined to go 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief and allowed one hit apiece.
Tommy Lozano went 3-for-4 with a run and three RBIs.
Joel Venegas singled twice and scored.
Nathan Barrera was hit by pitch, singled, scored and had an RBI ground out.
Benny Razo and Jacob Castaneda were hit by pitch and scored one run apiece.
Jacob Vargas had an RBI base hit.
Mikey Arroyo walked, singled in a run and scored.
Jacob Vargas went five innings and allowed one run on eight hits and one hit batter to earn the win.
Vargas issued a pair of walks and registered five strikeouts.
Either Diaz provided two scoreless and hitless innings and got half of his six outs via strikeout.
Luke Flores had an RBI single in the bottom of the second inning to give Alta Loma a 1-0 lead.
Lukas Spencer walked, singled and scored.
Logan Sein went 2-for-3.
Matt Perez singled and doubled.
Luke Proctor and Edward Garbo had one hit apiece for ALHS.
Up next: The Lions travel to LAHS on Thursday at 3:30.
