Garcia & Grable go 7-for-8 w/One HR Apiece in Glendora’s 13-2 Victory Over Claremont; GHS Secured Sweep & Takes Over 2nd Place

Baseball:

Glendora secured a two-game Palomares League sweep over Claremont to take over second place.

The Wolfpack scored two runs in the top of the first inning, and Glendora followed with 13 unanswered for a 13-2 victory.

With two games to play in league (versus Bonita), the Tartans lead CHS by one game.

Glendora out-hit Claremont 15-6, and they had a 5-0 advantage in extra-base hits.

Sebastian Lawrence went 4 2/3 innings to earn the win, allowing two runs on five hits.

Lawrence issued a pair of walks and registered seven strikeouts.

Jude Garcia provided 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief and allowed just one hit.

Garcia didn’t walk a batter and struck out a pair of Wolfpack.

Lawrence and Garcia hit two batters apiece.

Nico Vasquez walked, singled twice and scored.

Kai Messner had a pair of singles and scored.

Evan Blacksher had an RBI single in the top of the first to give Claremont a 2-0 lead.

Andrew Santellan singled once in the loss.

Walter Bilau got roughed up for nine runs (seven earned) on 10 hits over 2 1/3 innings.

Bilau walked one and fanned one GHS batter.

Tanner Grable went 3-for-4 with two runs and a solo home run.

Jude Garcia singled three times, scored twice and hit a solo home run.

Troy Norman walked, singled and scored.

Ozzie Tapia doubled and scored.

Diego Garza doubled, had a sac fly and drove in four runs.

Sebastian Lawrence went 2-for-3 with a walk, double, three runs and one RBI.

Riley Cooper singled twice, scored and drove in one.

Aidan Yamazaki had a two-run single to give GHS a 5-2 lead and he scored once.

Santiago Garza had an RBI ground out and scored.
