Baseball:
After getting swept in their two-game Valle Vista League series last week to Charter Oak, Northview took out their frustrations on their visitors from West Covina.
The Vikings pounded out a 14-1 thumping in six innings.
NHS out-hit WCHS, 13-6, including a 5-0 advantage in extra-base hits.
Cristian Lazo was charged with nine runs (three earned) on eight hits and two hit batters over four innings.
Lazo walked three and fanned a pair of Vikings.
Northview got to Danny Pineda for five runs (four earned) on four hits and a walk over one inning of work.
Noah Martinez went 3-for-4 with a double, run and two RBIs.
Michael Mendoza was hit by pitch and scored.
Jayden Chagollan walked and scored two runs.
Bobby Granados went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.
Ezekiel Martinez singled twice, scored and drove in a pair of runs.
Isaiah Benavidez went 2-for-3 with a walk, double, three runs and two RBIs.
Jaime Gallardo walked, singled, doubled, scored twice and drove in one.
Josh Correa had an RBI double and scored.
Fernie Casas was hit by pitch, drew a bases-loaded walk and scored.
Trailing 1-0, Jake Aguilar had a bases-clearing double to give NHS a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning.
Marcos Luna got the win after going three innings and allowing one run on five hits and a pair of hit batters.
Luna didn’t issue a walk and registered a pair of strikeouts.
Fernie Casas provided three scoreless innings in relief and allowed one hit.
Casas walked two and fanned three WCHS batters.
Griffey Moncada’s RBI single in the top of the first gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.
Gabriel Diaz singled and scored.
Joaquin Diaz went 2-for-3.
DiMaggio Beas singled.
Up next: The Vikings travel to West Covina on Friday.
