Baseball:
La Canada scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning to secure a 9-5 Rio Hondo League victory over their visitors from San Marino.
With three RHL games to play, LCHS and Monrovia have one league loss apiece.
And they’ll meet up twice in the final week of the regular season.
On Tuesday, Joe Bell went five innings to earn the win.
Bell allowed five runs (three earned) on five hits and two hit batters.
Bell issued three walks and registered nine strikeouts.
Fritz Phillips provided two scoreless and hitless innings in relief.
Phillips walked two and fanned four SMHS batters.
Parker Wilson had a two-run double in the second inning.
JT Lu-Morris walked, singled and scored a pair of runs.
Alex Lumino singled and scored.
Miles Morning drew three walks, was hit by pitch and scored.
Chase Mena walked, singled in a run and scored.
Charlie Danenhauer singled.
Colin Wildeman got the loss after surrendering seven runs (six earned) on one hit, four walks and a hit batter in just 1/3 of an inning.
Ryan Smith was charged with two unearned runs on four hits over 5 2/3 innings.
Smith issued three walks and registered three strikeouts.
Finn Flowerhogan walked, singled and scored.
Joe Bell singled, scored twice and drove in a run on a sac fly.
Ross Piken went 2-for-3 with a triple, run and one RBI.
Brandon Mohaghegh, Ethan Wong and Chase Regan walked and scored one run apiece.
Will Park went 1-for-3 with a walk and one RBI.
Austin Loughrin drew a bases loaded walk and scored.
Benji Geller had an RBI ground out and scored.
