Baseball:

Alta Loma kept its Hacienda League title hopes alive with Tuesday’s 3-1 victory over visiting South Hills.

One day after dropping the first of a three-game Hacienda League series to the Huskies, the Lions scored three times in the bottom of the fourth inning.

With four league games to play, Alta Loma and South Hills are tied in the loss column.

The Huskies final league game is Thursday, and the Lions still have a three-game set with Los Altos.

But back to Tuesday.

South Hills got off to an early lead in the top of the first when Diego Villarreal led off with a single and he moved to second on Gabriel Guerrero’s bunt.

One batter later, Carson Baker tripled Villarreal home.

The Huskies looked to strike again in the second.

With runners on first and second and two outs, Gabriel Guerrero singled to right, but Logan Sein made a perfect throw home to end the threat.

Maddox Delgado earned the win after going six innings and allowing one run on five hits.

Delgado issued three walks and registered four strikeouts.

Fifty-five of his 97 pitches were strikes.

Jacob Castanon earned the save by going a scoreless seventh inning.

With the tying runs on base, Castanon was able to induce a fly ball to left do end the game.

Villarreal walked, singled twice and scored.

Wesley Manning doubled and Victor Merlos singled.

Christian Santoyo got a rare loss after surrendering three runs on five hits over 3 2/3 innings.

Santoyo walked three and struck out four ALHS batters.

Nicholas Carrillo went the final 2 1/3 innings without any damage.

Carrillo allowed one hit, walked one and fanned three.

Alta Loma got the leadoff man on base in four of their six at-bats.

Vincent Cantu led off the bottom of the fourth with a single, followed by a Logan Sein base hit.

Lukas Spence got the Lions even at 1-1 with his RBI double.

Luke Flores’ RBI single gave ALHS a 2-1 lead.

And Luke Proctor’s sac fly gave Delgado and Castanon an extra insurance run.

Sein finished 2-for-3 with a run.

Spence walked, singled twice, scored and drove in one.

Cantu walked, singled and scored.

Proctor also drew a walk and played a steady shortstop.

Up next: The Lions travel to SHHS on Thursday at 3:30.
