Baseball:
This series could have ended so differently.
Damien secured game one at EHS (8-5) on Monday, and two days later, the Spartans and Eagles were tied at 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning.
DHS had runners on second and third with one out.
Dylan Villegas got pulled out of the bullpen at DHS, and he worked his way out of the jam.
Etiwanda would score twice in the top of the seventh and Villegas closed out the win.
Now, with the series tied at 1-1, Damien headed to EHS on Friday in the hopes of securing arguably the biggest Baseline League series of the 2026 season.
Unfortunately for the boys in green, Etiwanda crushed the Spartans, 13-1, and they have two more league wins than second-place Damien and Chino Hills.
EHS out-hit DHS, 13-4, including a 3-1 advantage in extra-base hits.
Layne Hansen surrendered five runs on five hits and one hit batter over 3 1/3 innings.
Hansen issued one walk and registered four strikeouts.
Angel Mejia doubled, tripled and scored.
LJ Roellig went 3-for-5 with a triple, run scored and five RBIs.

Adam Ornelas went 3-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.

Derick Kim had an RBI single and an RBI ground out.
James Milam drew a pair of walks, scored twice and had one RBI.
Peyton Ramos singled in a run and scored.
Josh Adams walked and scored.
Noah Frias earned the win after going five scoreless innings and allowing just one hit.
