Baseball:

Glendora put Friday’s Palomares League showdown with Diamond Bar away in the first inning.

In fact, 88-year-old former Tartans legendary coach Clint Harwick had barely taken his personal seat next to the third-base dugout after tossing out the first pitch, and GHS sent 12 batters to the plate and scored nine runs in a 12-0 blowout.

In that first inning, Glendora totaled seven hits, a walk and two hit batters.

Jacob Smith never retired a batter before being pulled.

Smith was charged with eight runs on five hits, one walk and two hit batters.

Tanner Grable had another big day against the Brahmas.

Grable went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, one run and five RBIs.

For the two-game series, Grable went 6-for-7 with three doubles, a triple and seven RBIs.

John Seader singled, doubled and scored two times.

Joseph Apodaca singled, was hit by pitch and scored.

Jude Garcia went 3-for-3 with a run and two RBIs.

Aidan Yamazaki walked and scored a pair of runs.

Troy Norman went 2-for-4 with a run and one RBI.

Diego Flores had an RBI single.

Santiago Garza and Sebastian Lawrence singled and scored one run apiece.

Preston Tymchak doubled in a run.

Riley Cooper was hit by pitch and scored.

Josh Kim had an RBI double and scored.

One week after tossing a one-hit shutout, Lawrence went five scoreless and surrendered a pair of hits.

Lawrence issued one walk and registered six strikeouts.

Chase Medina and Alan Ohno provided one scoreless inning in relief apiece and they combined to strike out three Brahmas.

Cole Cerasuolo went 2-for-3 and Dominic Tortorelli had the other DBHS base hit.

Up next: The Tartans travel to Claremont on Wednesday for the first of a two-game set with the second-place Wolfpack.
