Baseball:
Three days ago, Flintridge Prep visited Rio Hondo Prep and dropped a 14-2 six-inning beatdown on the Kares.
In fact, a pair of Wolves’ pitchers combined on a six-inning no-hitter.
There was no reason to have much optimism when they met up on Friday, right?
Rio Hondo Prep headed back to Arcadia with a 5-4 victory in eight innings.
Flintridge Prep scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings, but the Kares responded well.
Benicio Tardino went five innings and he allowed two runs on five hits.
Tardino issued three walks and registered one strikeout.
Nate Harwood went the final three innings and he surrendered a pair of unearned runs on four hits and a walk.
Nathan Sanok walked, singled twice and scored.
Spencer Rolfe walked, singled and scored.
Will Grable drew a pair of walks, singled and scored.
Christopher Chino went 3-for-3 and scored.
Aidan Tan singled and drove in a fourth-inning run on a sac fly.
Rocco Sabian drove in a run on a sac fly.

Max Carpiac doubled.
Sabian went six innings for the Wolves, and he was charged with four runs (three earned) on eight hits.
Sabian didn’t issue a walk and registered seven strikeouts.
Will Grable got the loss in spite of going two innings and allowing an unearned run on no hits and one walk.
Grable fanned a pair of RHP batters.
Nic Harrington went 1-for-3, scored twice and drew an eighth-inning walk.
Harrington would steal second and scored on an error with what turned out to be the game winning run.
Yanick Diaz, Easton Jara and Landon Scott singled and scored one run apiece.
Jacob Gomez singled and had an RBI ground out.
Harwood went 2-for-4 at the plate.
Tardino had an RBI single in the top of the sixth to give the Kares a 4-2 lead.
Up next: RHP will travel to Chadwick on Tuesday at 3:15.
Quotable:
RHP pitcher, Nate Harwood: “Benicio Tardino pitched really well as he went five innings against them, and only allowing two runs and making many of them roll over the ball and causing us to get easy outs. I felt like I did well, but I still could have been better. It felt really nice to beat them especially after how the first game went. I knew our hitting could have been better and same with our pitching, so we were able to fix our mistakes from the first game and that helped us win today.”
Box Score:
RHP: 3-0-0-0-0-1-0-1-(5)
FP: 0-0-1-1-0-0-2-0-(4)
