College Baseball:

Citrus cruised to its sixth consecutive victory on Tuesday.

The Owls led 17-2 before LA Valley scored five in the eighth and one in the ninth.

The final score (17-8) makes the game look closer than it actually was.

Citrus remains one-game back out of first behind Glendale.

Both programs have five games remaining in their regular season, all of which are Western State Conference South Division contests.

All five of Citrus’ extra-base hits were home runs.

Jose Alcalde went 2 1/3 innings and got the loss after allowing six runs on three hits, three walks and three hit batters.

Of all the good things that happened in Tuesday’s win, none was better or made the team happier than a pair of Owls hitting their first career home runs.

Ever.

At any level.

Matt Kaneshiro from Honolulu hit a three-run HR in the bottom of the second to give Citrus a 3-1 lead.

Koyo Taniguchi of Tokyo, Japan, hit a two-run shot in the seventh to extend the lead to 17-2.
