College Baseball:
PCC won its fourth consecutive game on Tuesday.
The Lancers defeated their hosts from Rio Hondo College, 8-7, in 14 innings.
Trailing 7-3, Anthony Baez hit a two-run HR in the bottom of the seventh, and Ruben Magana tripled in a pair in the ninth to force extra innings.
Christian Ortega got the loss after surrendering one run on six hits and two hit batters over six innings of work.
Ortega issued two walks and registered seven strikeouts.
With the scored tied at 7-7 in the top of the 14th, Xiovany Ochoa’s RBI single plated Logan Parker.
Omar Cisneros walked, singled twice and scored a pair of runs.
Chris Torres and Isaac Ton singled and scored one run apiece.
Joaquin Salcedo walked, had a three-run double and scored.
Joey Ramos had four singles, a run and one RBI.
Gabe Martinez singled three times and doubled.
Logan Parker singled, scored and drove in a run on a sac fly.
Jacob Escamilla singled which meant 10 Lancers had at least one base hit, including all nine starters.
Alex Valencia earned the win with five scoreless innings in relief and allowing just one hit.
Valencia issued one walk and registered four strikeouts.
Anthony Baez singled to go along with his two-run HR.
Ruben Magana went 2-for-7 with a run and the two RBIs in the ninth.
Mario Morton walked and totaled four singles and one run.
Danyal Jenkins drew a pair of walks, scored twice and drove in one on an RBI ground out.
Joshua Oh doubled.
Elias Mota walked, singled and scored.
Diego Helguera walked and had an RBI fielder’s choice.
Up next: The Lancers host the Roadrunners on Thursday at 2.
