Los Osos entered the first of its three-game Baseline League series with visiting Chino Hills 0-3, and they had been outscored 45-7 by Etiwanda.
The Huskies brought over a 3-0 mark after last week’s three-game sweep of Upland.
CHHS took a 5-3 lead, but the Grizzlies scored five times in the bottom of the fifth and held on for an 8-7 lead.
Jordan Mejico went six innings, and he allowed six runs (five earned) on seven hits.
Mejico issued two walks and registered six strikeouts.
Chino Hills got to Avery Cube for one run on one hit and three walks in 2/3 of an inning.
Hudson Kunzman entered in the top of the seventh with the bases loaded and two outs, and he was able to induce a pop up to first base to secure the save.
Andrew Baldomino had an RBI double and a solo home run.
Baldomino scored twice for the Huskies.
Branden Kim drew a walk, singled and scored a pair of runs.
Jacob Jimenez had an RBI single and scored.
Brooks Buoncristiani doubled in a run.
Rhett Billingsley’s two-run double in the top of the fourth gave Chino Hills a 4-3 lead.
Jayden Kim walked, singled and scored.
Anthony Medyn singled, scored and drew a bases loaded walk in the top of the seventh.
Ryan Dabuet walked and singled.
Matt Tejada went 1 1/3 innings, and he was charged with two runs on two hits and three walks.
Jacob Hernandez got roughed up for six runs on six hits, a walk and two hit batters in 2 2/3 innings.
Max Zaldivar provided two scoreless innings in relief, including just one hit.
Zaldivar didn’t allow a walk and struck out a pair of LOHS batters.
Wyatt Mohler was hit by pitch, and he tied the program career hits mark with his 115th base hit.
Mohler also scored once in the win.
Presten Young went 3-for-3 with a double, run and three RBIs.
Aaron Ziello singled twice and scored.
Moses Lanza walked, was hit by pitch, singled and scored a pair of runs.
James Kennedy had an RBI ground out, and he drove in another run on a pop out.
Dominic Rodriguez drew a pair of walks and scored two runs.
Brody Gomez walked, scored, and his two-run single in the fourth tied the game at 5-5.
Bryce Anderson singled in the win.
Up next: The Grizzlies travel to CHHS on Wednesday at 3:30 for game two of their two-game set.
