Bonita Pounds Out 10-0 Palomares League Victory Over Walnut in Five Innings; Reyes Went Five Scoreless in Circle & Struck Out Six

Softball:

Bonita cruised to a 10-0 Palomares League mercy-rule victory over their visitors from Walnut in a five-inning contest.

The Bearcats scored six runs in the bottom of the first and got two runs apiece in the second and third innings.

BHS out-hit WHS, 14-5, including a 3-0 advantage in extra-base hits.

Serenity Reyes went all five and she scattered five hits.

Reyes issued two walks and registered six strikeouts.

Forty-eight of her 78 pitches were strikes.

Peyton Schilz, Aubrey Birtness, Kaitlyn McGill, Cynthia Phong and Brennah Neeley had one single apiece for the Mustangs.

Birtness got the loss after getting roughed up for 10 runs on 14 hits and four walks over four innings of work.

Birtness struck out one BHS batter.

Leah Reynolds went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI from the leadoff spot.

Laila Washington singled, doubled and scored a pair of runs.

Koa Puppe walked, had an RBI double, a two-run single and scored.

Adrianna Mangini went 2-for-3 with two runs and a pair of RBIs

Madi Arzate singled, had an RBI double and scored.

Laney Sweeney singled and drew a pair of walks, including one with the bases loaded.

Kiana Crawford had an RBI single.

Reyes walked and had an RBI ground out to help her cause.

Audrina Eslava and Sara Yeats scored one run apiece.

Hayden Andrew and Maya Aguayo had one hit apiece in the win.

Up next: The Bearcats travel to Glendora on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30.

BHS and GHS currently sit one-game back of Ayala in second place.
