Baseball:
Chino Hills swept Upland in their first three-game Baseline League series of the season.
Trailing 1-0, the Huskies scored five runs in the bottom of the second inning and cruised to an 8-3 victory at LoanMart Field in Rancho Cucamonga.
CHHS out-hit UHS, 11-4, including a 2-0 edge in extra-base hits.
Michael Chiotti went two innings and he was charged with one run on two hits.
Chiotti didn’t issue a walk and registered four strikeouts.
Jayden Kim was credited with the win after going three innings and being charged with two runs (one earned) on two hits.
Kim walked three and fanned one batter.
Brody Buoncristiani provided two scoreless and hitless innings in relief.
He allowed one walk and struck out a trio of Highlanders.
Ryan May singled twice and scored.
Elliot Cresap’s RBI single in the top of the second gave Upland a 1-0 lead.
Angelo Mantilla singled and scored.
Carson Kinnick walked and had an RBI ground out.
Andrew Armendarez was hit by pitch and scored.
Isaac Carlos got the loss after surrendering five runs on six hits over 1 1/3 innings.
Carlos didn’t give a free pass and struck out a trio of Huskies.
CHHS got to Ezekiel Cortez for three runs on four hits and three walks over two innings.
Brody Buoncristiani singled three times and scored.
Andrew Baldomino went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and scored.
Rhett Billingsley drew a pair of walks, singled, scored and had one RBI.
Jayden Kim singled in a run.
Taylor Pierson had an RBI double and scored.
Xavier Romero went 2-for-2 with a walk, RBI single and scored a pair of runs.
Jacob Jimenez walked and drove in a run on a sac fly.
Brandon Kim was hit by pitch, singled and scored.
Anthony Medyn had an RBI ground ball and scored.
Up next: The Huskies travel to Los Osos and the Highlanders host Rancho Cucamonga on Monday in the first of a three-game Baseline League series this coming week.
