Baseball:
Bonita headed to Laguna Beach having lost five of their last six games.
The Bearcats were hoping to build some momentum as they wade into the final three weeks of the regular season with two-game Palomares League series against Claremont, Walnut and Glendora in that order.
Trailing 1-0, BHS scored three runs in the top of the sixth and got four more in the seventh to secure a 7-1 victory.
Casey DeHaan went three scoreless innings and allowed just one hit.
DeHaan issued one walk and registered three strikeouts.
Joey Garcia was charged with one run on three hits over 3 1/3 innings.
Garcia didn’t give a free pass, struck out three and was credited with the win.
Evan Nguyen got the final two outs, including one via strikeout.
Jackson Arrasin drove in the Breakers only run on a fourth-inning sac fly.
Dylan Yencho singled and scored.
Parker Moore went 2-for-3.
Jacob Wicker singled in the loss.
Gabe Paz and Jackson Arrasin combined to go five scoreless innings for Laguna Beach on two hits.
Jacob Wicker was charged with three unearned runs on a walk and hit batter.
Dylan Yencho surrendered four runs (two earned) on two hits and a walk over one inning of work.
Brady Horn walked, was hit by pitch and singled in a pair of runs in the seventh.
Parker Alexander singled and scored.
Reed Tibbetts walked, had an RBI ground out and a sac fly.
Judah Reeve drew a pair of walks, had an RBI ground out and scored twice.
Bobby Young had an RBI ground out.
Joaquin Covarrubias walked and scored a pair of runs.
Collin Walker scored.
Joaquin Mendez and Sean Compton singled in the win.
Up next: The Bearcats host Claremont on Wednesday in the first of a two-game Palomares League set.
