College Baseball:
Mt. SAC secured a three-game sweep of Compton and caught El Camino atop the South Coast Conference standings on Friday.
The Mounties cruised to a 14-3 victory.
They out-hit the Coyotes, 17-8, including a 6-1 advantage in extra-base hits.
Mt. SAC extended its current win streak to nine games.
Naeem Parra was charged with the loss after surrendering three runs on three hits over two innings.
Parra walked two and fanned one MSAC batter.
The Mounties got to Nathaniel Blanco for eight runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks over 1 1/3 innings.
Andrew Alva hit a two-run HR, had a three-run double and scored twice.
Jose Gomez singled and tripled.
Nick Mejia drew a pair of walks, singled twice, doubled and scored three runs.
Chip Mertz doubled in a pair of runs and scored.
Isaac Fanoga drew a pair of walks, singled, doubled in two runs and scored.
Tyler Primanto singled and scored.
Ryan Castro went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.
Frankie Brazil drew three walks, singled and scored three runs from the leadoff spot.
Mario Cuadras walked and singled.
Jackson Giacone walked, scored a pair of runs and drove in one on a sac fly.
AC Nieto and Luca Lombari had one single apiece in the win.
Brenden Menchaca went five scoreless innings and scattered three hits.
Menchaca didn’t issue a walk and registered three strikeouts.
Anthony Macias hit a solo home run in the top of the eighth.
Amaree Burnett walked, singled and scored.
Noah Gomez went 3-for-3 with an RBI single in the sixth to get Compton on the board.
Julian Arellano drove in a run on a sac fly.
Corey Guy went 2-for-3.
Carlos Ramos singled and scored.
Up next: The Mounties will host Long Beach on Tuesday at 2 in the first of three with the Vikings.
