Baseball:
Alta Loma secured a three-game Hacienda League series over San Dimas, 2-1.
The Lions narrowly held off the Saints, 9-8, on Thursday at ALHS.
Alta Loma led 5-0 in the top of the third before the Saints got two in the third and five more in the fourth to take a 7-6 advantage.
Three runs in the bottom of the fifth turned out to be the difference.
ALHS out-hit SDHS, 13-6, including a 3-1 advantage in extra-base hits.
Logan Sein went 3 1/3 innings and he was charged with six runs (two earned) on five hits.
Sein walked two and fanned one SDHS batter.
Rene Juarez was credited with the win after 1 2/3 innings in relief and allowing one run on one hit and a pair of walks.
Juarez registered one strikeout.
Jacob Castanon provided 1 2/3 innings in relief, and he surrendered one run on no hits, two hit batters and one walk.
Castanon struck out one Saint.
Edward Garbo got the final out to secure the save.
Josh Calcanas went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs, was hit by pitch and drove in one.
Ryder Vitale walked, scored, had a two-run single and drew a bases loaded walk.
James Rocha was hit by pitch, singled in a pair of runs and scored.
Eleazar Santillan singled in a run and drew a bases loaded walk.
Aaden Escarcega was hit by pitch, singled and scored.
Noah Esquival walked and scored.
Micah Cooper drew a pair of walks and scored.
AJ Larios was hit by pitch, walked and scored.
Noah Esquival was charged with three runs (two earned) on two hits and three walks in just 1/3 of an inning.
Cash Parry allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits over 1 2/3 innings.
Logan Hopper provided two innings in relief, and he surrendered three runs on six hits.
Hopper didn’t walk a batter and struck out one.
Josh Calcanas went two innings and he allowed one run on two hits and a pair of walks.
Calcanas struck out one ALHS batter.
Logan Sein singled, hit a solo home run and scored twice.
Grant MacCharles went 2-for-4, including a two-run HR in the bottom of the fifth to give ALHS an 8-7 lead.
Max Herrera singled and scored.
Lukus Spence went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Luke Proctor drew a pair of walks and scored two runs.
Matt Perez walked, singled and scored a pair of runs.
Edward Garbo drew two walks, singled and scored.
Silas Granados went 2-for-4, including a double and two RBIs.
Vincent Cantu was hit by pitch, singled twice and drove in one run.
Up next: The Saints host Los Altos on Monday at 3:30.
And the Lions welcome Chaffey next Friday at 3:30.
