College Baseball:

Mt. SAC secured a three-game South Coast Conference series over Pasadena City College, but the Lancers made the Mounties earn it on Tuesday and Saturday.

After wins of 9-8 in 12 innings and 19-6 on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively, Mt. SAC edged the visiting Lancers, 3-2, on Saturday afternoon.

PCC led 2-0, but the Mounties scored once in the seventh and twice in the eighth.

Jonathan Bracamonte sent six strong innings for PCC and he was charged with one run on seven hits.

Bracamonte issued one walk and registered three strikeouts.

Matt Garcia got the loss after surrendering two runs on four hits over 1 2/3 innings.

Garcia didn’t give a free pass and struck out one Mountie.

Tyler Primanto singled twice, doubled and scored two of Mt. SAC’s three runs.

Hudson Karczynski singled three times.

Andrew Alva went 2-for-5, including an RBI single in the seventh to get the Mounties on the board.

Froilan Serna tied the game at 2-2 with his RBI base hit in the eighth.

Serna would come around and score on Frankie Brazil’s RBI single for what turned out to be the game-winning run.

Luca Lombardi went 2-for-4.

The PCC pitching staff finally silenced Ryan Castro.

Castro went 7-for-11 with nine RBIs in the first two games.

But on Saturday, three Lancers held Castro to an 0-for-4 game with six runners left on base.

Brendan Menchaca went the first five for Mt. SAC, and he was charged with one run on six hits.

Menchaca walked two and fanned four PCC batters.

Cash Carroll was responsible for an unearned run on one walk over 1 1/3 innings.

Carroll registered two strikeouts.

Juan Verduzco was credited with the win, going 2 2/2 scoreless innings and allowing just one hit and no walks.

Isaac Ton singled and he drove in single runs in the fifth and seventh on an RBI fielder’s choice and a sac fly, respectively.

Xiovany Ochoa walked and scored both runs.

Luke Bauer walked and collected a pair of singles.

Joaquin Salcedo, Chris Torres and Diego Gurfein walked and had one single apiece.

Jacob Escamilla and Logan Parker each had a single on Saturday.
