Baseball:
Christian Santoyo is really coming into his own.
In his last three starts, Santoyo has allowed just two runs in 19 innings in wins over Los Altos, San Dimas and McClatchy.
On Wednesday, Santoyo finished his second consecutive game in a 5-2 victory over McClatchy of Sacramento at the Lions Tournament.
He surrendered a pair of runs on five hits.
Santoyo issued one walk and registered five strikeouts.
After Ari Silva’s one-out two-run HR in the bottom of the first inning, Santoyo shut the Lions out the rest of the way.
Silva finished 2-for-3.
Antonio Barber singled and scored.
Silva got stuck with the loss after surrendering three runs (two earned) on three hits over 4 1/3 innings.
Silva walked five, hit one, and struck out four South Hills batters.
The Huskies got to Connor Nurmi for two runs on three hits in the seventh inning.
Ayden Vieth drew a pair of walks, scored and had RBI singles in the top of the second and seventh innings.
Aiden Gomez singled in a run.
Victor Merlos walked, singled and doubled.
Wesley Manning walked, doubled and scored.
Carson Baker walked, singled and scored.
Diego Villarreal walked and was hit by pitch.
Up next: South Hills will battle San Ysidro today (Thursday), and then the Huskies will host Colony in the first of a three-game Hacienda League series on Monday, April 13th.
