Baseball:
Talk about a rough schedule.
After Friday’s 10-0 loss to their visitors and the No. 4 ranked program in the state by MaxPreps (Norco), Bonita will open Palomares League play next week against No. 6 Ayala.
The Cougars lone loss of the season was a 3-2 setback at No. 2 Corona back on February 28th.
CHS out-hit BHS, 15-4, including a 6-0 advantage in extra-base hits.
Adam Raab got the loss after allowing six runs (five earned) on 11 hits and two walks over five innings.
Norco got to Evan Nguyen for three runs on three hits and a walk in 2/3 of an inning.
Joey Garcia went 1 1/3 innings and he allowed an unearned run on one hit.
Garcia issued one walk and registered two strikeouts.
Jacob Melendez had a two-run HR and an RBI ground out.
Jordan Ayala went 4-for-4 with a triple, two doubles, four runs and one RBI.
Marcus Blanton had two singles, a pair of doubles and four RBIs.
Izaya Najera singled and scored.
Jayden Serna singled twice and scored.
Dylan Seward went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI from the leadoff spot.
Codey Brown drew a pair of walks, scored and had one RBI.
Zach Fiedler singled in the win.
Melendez went five scoreless innings and allowed two hits.
He walked one and struck out five Bonita batters.
Riley Moran and Vinny Rodriguez provided one scoreless inning apiece for the Cougars.
Gavin Lennig, Judah Reeve, Joaquin Mendez and Andrew Lomeli had one hit apiece to account for the Bearcats offense.
Up next: As mentioned above, the Bearcats travel to Ayala on Wednesday to open Palomares League play.
The Bulldogs (10-1, 2-0) struck out 26 Glendora batters in their two-game sweep this week of the Tartans.
