College Baseball:
Citrus remained one-game back of first-place Glendale after Thursday’s 15-10 victory at Canyons.
The Owls led 15-1 before the Cougars scored six runs in the bottom of the eighth, and they got three more in the ninth.
Twelve of the game’s 24 combined hits were of the extra-base variety, including six home runs.
Conner Luetto went six innings and allowed one run on four hits to earn the win.
Luetto walked one and fanned seven.
Eddie Gutierrez and Reid Farrell hit three-run home runs in the eighth and ninth innings, respectively.
Michael Hogan had a two-run double.
Toby Lite doubled and scored.
Jacob Bond’s RBI single in the second got the Cougars on the board.
Liam Ostrom went 2-for-5 with a walk, RBI single, double and scored one run.
Brady Yeaman drew a pair of walks and scored two runs.
Travis Van Ness singled and scored.
Kevin Foderaro got roughed up for nine runs on seven hits over two innings.
He walked one, struck out one Citrus batters and surrendered two home runs.
Cam Casado went 3-for-4 with three runs, and he hit a pair of two-run home runs.
Jackson Gray had an RBI single and a grand slam.
Joe Gilkeson walked, hit a solo HR and scored a pair of runs.
Nick Velazquez walked, doubled and scored two runs.
Cole West doubled and scored three times.
Derek Almeda singled, doubled and scored.
Jordan Daniels had a two-run single and scored a pair of runs.
Dominic Torrez singled twice and scored.
Royce Mendoza singled once in the win.
Up next: The Owls will go for the three-game sweep when they host Canyons on Saturday at noon.
