Baseball:

San Marino needed a win in the worst way possible.

The Titans began Rio Hondo League play 0-2, and they had to travel to battle a Monrovia team that hadn’t lost a single game in the month of March.

SMHS, however, scored twice in the top of the fourth and sixth innings to secure a 4-1 victory at MHS.

Two of the Wildcats three losses have come at the hands of San Marino, including their last two.

Colin Wildeman earned the win after going 4 2/3 innings and allowing one run on two hits.

He issued four walks and fanned one Monrovia batter.

Alex Lumino got the final seven outs without allowing a hit or run.

Lumino walked one and struck out four Wildcats.

Troy Grise’s solo shot in the bottom of the fourth was the only run Monrovia could muster.

Greyson Lorenzini was charged with the loss after allowing a pair of unearned runs on two hits over four innings of work.

Lorenzini issued two walks and registered five strikeouts.

With two outs and a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth, Chase Mena extended the San Marino advantage with his two-run double.

Mena went 2-for-4 with the two RBIs.

Nathaniel Eberwein singled in a run in the fourth.

JT Lu-Morris drove in a run on a sac fly in the fourth inning, and in the sixth, he reached on an error and scored on Mena’s double.

Parker Wilson singled and scored.

Charlie Danenhauer drew a pair of walks, singled and scored two runs.

Lumino walked and singled.

William Stenvick reached on an error in the fourth and scored.

Up next: San Marino travels to El Rancho on Thursday, and Monrovia visits La Canada on Friday.
