College Baseball:
Mt. SAC opened their three-game SCC series at East Los Angeles College with a 7-3 victory.
The Mounties had a 10-8 advantage in base hits, but the Wolverines had four extra-base hits as compared to one for their visitors.
Trailing 3-2, Mt. SAC scored twice in the seventh and three in the eighth inning.
Tomas Bilvado went six innings, and he was charged with three runs on seven hits to earn the win.
Bilvado walked two and fanned three ELAC batters.
Jack Rudometkin (1) and Juan Verduzco (2) provided three scoreless innings in relief.
Verduzco registered two strikeouts.
Moses Aguirre doubled twice and scored.
Phillip Chaidez walked, had an RBI double and scored.
Daniel Quiroz scored, had an RBI single and an RBI ground out.
Mahki Clark doubled, while Gabriel Rincon and Steven Segura had one hit apiece.
John Gonzalez walked and singled.
Phillip Chaidez went the first six innings, and he surrendered three runs (one earned) on six hits.
Chaidez walked one and struck out seven MSAC batters.
Juan Contreras got the loss after allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits over 1 1/3 innings.
Contreras didn’t issue a walk and struck out a pair of Mounties.
Jackson Giacone went 2-for-4 with three runs and an RBI.
Andrew Alva hit a solo home run in the second inning to tie the game at 1-1.
Frankie Brazil had an RBI single and an RBI ground out.
With a 5-3 lead in the top of the eighth, Chip Mertz had a two-run single.
Mertz also scored on a passed ball in the seventh.
Nick Mejia walked and singled.
Hudson Karczynski, Ryan Castro and Brock Foulds had one hit apiece for the Mounties.
Terrell Jackson Jr. and Isaac Fanoga scored once each in the win.
Up next: The Mounties host the Huskies on Thursday at 2.
