Softball:
In three years, the Maranatha softball program has gone from being a joke to a contender.
In 2024 and 2025 combined, the Lady Minutemen went a combined 1-19 overall and 0-16 in Olympic League games.
Over that same stretch, they were outscored 495-113.
Fast forward to 2026, and MHS is 12-3 overall and 1-0 in league.
In 15 games this season, they’ve scored 44 more runs (157) than all of 2024 and 2025 combined.
Maranatha’s most recent victim was Pasadena.
And MHS crushed the Bulldogs, 21-0, in five innings.
They out-hit PHS, 17-3, including a 7-0 advantage in extra-base hits.
Gabrielle Lee went three scoreless innings, and she allowed one hit and two walks while striking out three Pasadena batters.
Sophia Arrechiga had two singles, and Gemma Gomez had the other.
Ellen Gomez got roughed up for 17 runs (15 earned) on 17 hits over 3 2/3 innings.
She walked two and fanned three MHS batters.
Campbell Taylor went 4-for-4 with a double, triple, two runs and four RBIs.
Peyton Guthrie singled, doubled, tripled, scored twice and drove in three.
Emily Cornejo went 2-for-3 with a run and a pair of RBIs.
Christina Koroghlian singled, doubled, scored three times and had one RBI.
Sadie Sullens walked, tripled, scored twice and drove in one.
Ella Klopp had an RBI triple and scored.
Sophia Gonzalez had an RBI single.
Zoe Perez walked, singled, drove in one run and scored.
Isabella Quiroz singled and scored two runs.
Ashley Massino scored twice and had one RBI.
Up next: MHS and PHS will both see action on Thursday.
The Minutemen travel to Whittier Christian, and the Bulldogs visit Immaculate Heart.
