Bonita Jumps on Charter Oak Early, Withstands Chargers’ Comeback & Secures a 9-6 Nonleague Victory

Bonita won its third consecutive game on Tuesday, and it looked easy early on.

The Bearcats led visiting Charter Oak 7-0 when the Chargers struck for six runs in the top of the fifth inning.

BHS would answer back with two in the bottom half of the fifth, and they went on to secure a 9-6 victory.

Andrew Jeffers went 4 1/3 innings, and he was charged with four runs on five hits.

Jeffers issued two walks and registered three strikeouts.

Ryder Gibson provided 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief and surrendered two hits.

Gibson didn’t give a free pass and struck out three COHS batters.

Joseph Avitia walked, singled twice and scored.

AJ Guzman went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.

Jefte Cruz walked, singled and scored.

Frankie Robles went 3-for-4 with a run and one RBI.

Diego Flores had an RBI single.

Martin Luna III singled in a run and scored.

Jonathan Limon walked and scored.

Brian Aceves was saddled with the loss after surrendering seven runs on nine hits over four innings.

Aceves issued one walk and fanned a pair of Bearcats.

Joaquin Mendez had a big day, going 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, three runs and two RBIs.

Brady Horn had an RBI single and drove in another on a sac fly.

Judah Reeve singled, hit a two-run HR and scored twice.

Parker Alexander walked, singled and scored.

Austin Banuelos went 3-for-3 with a run and one RBI.

Dalton Storm singled, doubled, scored and drove in one run.

Sean Compton walked and scored.
