College Basketball:

Citrus earned what seems to be their annual trip to the 3C2A State Championships.

To secure that spot, the Owls needed a win on Saturday evening.

And they got it.

Citrus outlasted Mt. SAC, 91-80, thanks to a 55-43 run in the second half.

The Owls extended their current win streak to 24 games.

Both programs shot 44-percent from the field.

Citrus was 3-of-23 from beyond the 3-point arc, and they converted 24-of-34 attempts from the free-throw line.

In comparison, the Mounties went 5-of-17 on 3-pointers, and 19-of-31 from the charity stripe.

Amiri Meadows led the Owls with 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting.

Meadows totaled four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Leo Ricketts added 22 points, including a pair of 3’s.

Rockwell Reynolds contributed 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Mt. SAC’s Dayvon Gates scored a game-high 30 points on 13-of-26 shooting.

Gates had five rebounds, three assists and a steal.

Osami Maciel came off the Mounties bench and produced 17 points.

Ryan Wheeler chipped in with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
