Rio Hondo Prep secured season victory No. 1 on Friday.
The Kares defeated Roosevelt of Los Angeles, 3-2, behind sophomore ace Nate Harwood.
Harwood went the distance, and he was charged with a pair of unearned runs on six hits.
Harwood issued two walks and registered nine strikeouts.
Of his 112 pitches, 73 were strikes.
Sebastian Diaz walked and singled.
Luke Sandoval singled and scored.
Izaiah Cortez had an RBI single in the top of the sixth to get the Rough Riders on the scoreboard.
Nathan Moo went five innings, and he surrendered two runs (one earned) on four hits.
Moo walked two and fanned five RHP batters.
Bryan Lopez was saddled with the loss after allowing one run on one hit and a walk over the sixth inning.
Aiden Delgadillo went 2-for-3, including an RBI single in the fifth to give RHP a 2-0 lead.
Jacob Gomez had an RBI single in the second inning, and he bunted home the game winner in the sixth.
Calogero Chico walked, singled and scored.
Yanick Diaz and Landon Scott walked and scored one run apiece.
Harwood singled once in the win.
Up next: The Kares will host Arroyo on Wednesday at 3:15.
