Glendora’s kryptonite of late has been its inability to guard the 3-pointer.
And such was the case on Friday night.
Aliso Niguel had a 36-point (15-3) advantage in 3-pointers made in its 87-73 victory over the visiting Tartans in the second round of the CIF-SS Division 3 playoffs.
The Wolverines had a 47-39 advantage at the break, and they took a 74-55 lead into the fourth period.
Jayden Mysin led ANHS with 20 points, including five 3-pointers.
And Collin Tjin hit six 3-pointers, and he finished with 19 points.
Jay Keys scored nine of his 17 points in Aliso Niguel’s 27-16 run in the third period.
Jeremiah Garzon finished his junior campaign with a game-high 27 points to go with his 11 rebounds.
Max Hilgenfeldt had a solid career at GHS, including his surpassing of the 1,000-point club, and the Tartans senior scored 13 points on Friday.
Hilgenfeldt also tallied five rebounds and seven assists.
Tanner Grable chipped in 12 points, and the 6-foot-3 right-hander won’t get much rest, because he’ll join the Tartans baseball team in Monday’s season opener.
The CIF D-3 champs are scheduled to travel to Eastside, weather permitting.
Grable grabbed three rebounds and dished out a pair of assists.
Moshe Loucks and Noah Rangel both finished with seven points and two rebounds apiece.
