Boys Hoops:

Bonita flipped the script on Glendora.

Sixteen days ago, the Tartans led throughout its January 14th contest with BHS.

The Bearcats went on a couple of runs to get the game to within a few points, but GHS pulled away for a 10-point home victory.

Fast forward to Friday, and Bonita led for most of its showdown with the reigning Palomares League champions.

This time around, however, the Tartans made a couple of runs, and they almost caught the Bearcats.

Bonita, though, hit clutch shot after clutch shot to claim an 80-72 win.

With one game to play, BHS trails first-place Ayala by one game, and they travel to AHS on Monday night.

But back to Friday.

Bonita had an 8-4 advantage in 3-pointers.

Beau Rudometkin led the way with a game-high 24 points.

Rudometkin scored 20 second-half points, including a pair of 3’s.

He also held his own physically in the paint with Glendora’s big man, Jeremiah Garzon, including rebounding and blocked shots.

Carson Zylstra hit four huge 3-pointers, all of which came in the second half.

James Kim and Brayden Henderson chipped in with 13 points apiece.

Glendora’s Max Hilgenfeldt is finishing his senior campaign in strong form.

Hilgenfeldt led GHS with 22 points, six rebounds and three assists.

The Tartans lefty also went 8-of-10 from the free-throw line.

Jeremiah Garzon added 16 points and five boards.

Noah Rangel hit some timely shots, and he finished with 15 points, one rebound and an assists.

Tanner Grable provided nine points, five boards and one assist.

Up next: BHS travels to Ayala on Monday night, and with a win, the Bearcats would earn a share of the Palomares League title.

GHS will host Walnut, and it’s likely they’ll need a win to secure a postseason berth.
