Boys Hoops:
Bonita hung around and even cut a double-digit lead to one point in the third quarter of Wednesday’s Palomares League showdown at Glendora.
However, each time the Bearcats made a run, the Tartans answered with one of their own in a 73-63 victory over BHS.
Max Hilgenfeldt led GHS with 20 points, including three 3-pointers and a 5-of-6 effort from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter.
Hilgenfeldt sparked the Tartans offense early while Jeremiah Garzon, their leading scorer in 2025-26
found his rhythm.
The lanky senior finished with four assists and a pair of rebounds.
Garzon finished with 17 points, with 14 coming in the second half.
Garzon tallied four rebounds.
Tyson Rush scored nine points, including a pair of critical 3-pointers in the second half.
Noah Rangel also provided nine points in the win.
Moshe Loucks had seven points and four rebounds, and Tanner Grable chipped in with six points, five rebounds and three assists.
Brayden Henderson led BHS with 20 points.
Henderson hit four 3-pointers, and he scored 16 of his 20 in the second half to help the Bearcats stay within striking distance.
Carson Zylstra had a game-high five 3’s, and he provided 17 points for BHS.
Beau Rudometkin finished with 15 points in the loss.
Bonita had an 11-8 edge in 3-pointers.
